As the population of Phoenix continued to spread westward, it was decided that a second Pi Beta Phi alumnae club could be founded. The Arrowhead-West Phoenix Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Club was chartered on November 4, 2000, as a means of better serving the large number of metro West Phoenix Pi Phis.
Twenty-four years later, The Arrowhead-West Phoenix Alumnae Club boasts an average of 60 members. New members join each year, and work together to cherish our heritage of friendship. For those in the West Valley that ask, "are there Pi Phis near me?," we can say, "ABSOLUTELY!"
This year, we are very proud to announce that our club won the Pi Beta Phi 2023 Premier Club (Small) Award. Each year, Pi Phi celebrates clubs that exemplify our mutual values and provide a premier experience to members -- and as we share this wonderful news, we wanted to once again thank all of our members for being such important and valued assets to our club.
Many have asked us -- "why join a sorority alumnae club, at my age? I did all of that in college, and my life is different now."
We don't seek to replicate your college experience, because we know your membership needs have changed -- but instead create many new entertaining and life-enriching adult experiences. Here are just a few of our interest groups -- and watch our video for more information.
Lunch Bunch: Casual get-togethers at fun West Valley restaurants during summer months only.
Book Club: Monthly discussions of “the latest and greatest” among books, followed by a sack lunch.
Bridge: Did someone say “bridge?” Join others in playing the best card game, ever. Monthly get-togethers and snacks.
Mah Jongg: The rage of true “game players.” Monthly get-togethers and snacks.
Giving Hands: Open to everyone who appreciates handmade items and creativity in all forms. For crafters-knitters-crocheters-sewists-artists-jewelers-origamists.
Coffee Chat: A unique ZOOM platform for sisters who have moved away from Arizona, or who can no longer make it to Arrowhead-West Pi Beta Phi meetings.
Halo Happy Hour: Monthly get-togethers at fun locales -- ideal for at-home moms and career women.
Literacy: Make a difference in your community by volunteering your time and skills toward supporting West Valley literacy efforts -- and continue to support Pi Phi's long-standing Literacy calling!
Victim's Advocacy: Attend our annual holiday Bear Hugs luncheon, where we collect stuffed animals to help calm children drawn from their homes in domestic situations -- and also donate gift cards and toiletries.
Giving Hands: Calling all West Phoenix Pi Phis -- crafters, knitters and sewers! Help create needed hats, mittens, blankets, and more for community newborns and children in need.
Cookie Shines: One of our oldest traditions, but still a Pi Phi favorite.
Halloween Party/Book Drive: We dress as our favorite book character -- and bring a children's book for donation to our local literacy events. Great cause, great fun!
Monmouth Duo: Where it all began...we get together with local Kappa Kappa Gammas and speak of the old days.
Panhellenic Luncheon: 16 different sorority alumnae groups in the West Valley celebrate their fraternity spirit and donate in-demand items for local charities.
And in-season Scheduled get-togethers, including our annual Founder's Day Celebration, to celebrate our founders and to enjoy each other's company! Plus spontaneous events, ranging from concerts to gallery showings to author signings -- to take advantage of area cultural events.
Become a member of our vibrant group and get to know our wonderful, fearless leaders. Representing chapters from all over the country, our group boasts retired and current VP's of major U.S. corporations, non-profit executives, U.S. military officers, accountants, architects, business owners, university professors, public school teachers, nurses, and stay-at-home Moms and GrandMoms -- just to mention a few!
